Life and Expereince
Robert believes health is the full actualization of human form and function (telos). Robert brings a unique skill set (techne) and approach, emphasizing human movement and athletic performance, that bridges effective rehabilitation and sports performance.
Early life & Influences
Robert started training in traditional Japanese martial arts when he was age four, extremely passionate, he thrived in practice, with his teachers encouraged him to compete. He explored other sports for a while but eventually always returning to martial arts.
Seeking the best teachers, he traveled overseas to learn from famous fighters from the golden age of Muay Thai. He studied Muay Thai and Boxing with masters like Nokweed Davy, Pi-Deang Davy, and Luhkin Wassantasit. He also trained with Somchai Chimlum, South African Coach Paddy Carson, and Kru Jeb at Sityodtong. These experiences helped him build a strong set of skills.
However, it was his study of movement under Yogi Lizzie James that revolutionized his practice. By focusing on body and breath mastery, he learned to regulate his own physiology. He discovered that a relaxed practitioner retains visual depth of field and fine motor control, the hallmarks of higher Vagal tone. By synthesizing yogic principles with martial mastery, he transformed his movement and martial practice into something with effective ease and efficiency.
The lived Experince
In 2018, Robert had a life altering accident during motocross training. The injuries were brutal and required several surgeries. He spent the next two years in a challenging recovery process where he had to learn how to walk again. He had to rehabilitate multiple limbs at the same time. This period again deeply changed how he understood the human body and it's innate healing mechanisms. His knowledge of movement and physiology was no longer just something he had studied. It became something he lived through.
Now he uses that experience to help others. He understands what it takes to perform at a high level but he also knows how to rebuild a body from nothing. His approach focuses on how the body actually functions in the real world. He looks for long term improvements rather than quick fixes. He combines the discipline of elite combat sports with the lessons he learned during his own recovery.
